Design Approach: The costume design layers clothing from different time periods showing the ceaseless progression through time from the Thirty Years War through World War II to 2020, in order to emphasize the inherent historification in Mother Courage and Her Children as intended by Brecht. As victims of war and circumstance, the trials of life will be visually represented on their persons through various levels of distressing on the garments.
