Design Approach: Beauty and the Beast is a story about discovering you love someone when they become more important than yourself. To emphasize the difference between the enchanted castle and the village, the village lives in an autumn earth tone world whereas the castle lives in a light and cool tone world. At the same time, the Walt Disney animated film influences the main characters' color palettes. The village consists of bodices and skirts for all the female presenting ensemble leading Belle to stand out as the only person in a dress.
For Belle and the Beast's dinner and dance, Belle wears a rose-inspired petal dress flecked with rhinestones to represent water droplets on a rose. After transforming into the prince, the Prince also gains a petal jacket in light tones emphasizing his transformation and brightness compared to the start of the story.
